ANI – Agência Nacional de Inovação, SA is a company in the dependence of the Ministries of Economy and of Science.

Its mission is to:

  • Reinforce the transfer of knowledge to the economy
  • Increase the participation of the national scientific and technological system and companies in international R&I networks
  • Reinforce business investment in R&I

ANI is an intermediary body with the responsibility of managing a broad and integrated set of support instruments for R&I for entrepreneurship, financed through the Structural Funds and national budget. In addition, ANI is part of the EEN since the early nineties, which has been a good platform to support and work with SME's in business development/management tools for innovation and knowledge transfer.

ANI participated in the consortium of the European project ECOPOL, a public partnership to promote eco-innovation policies, where it gained experience with the drivers and barriers on implementation of resource efficiency in the Portuguese industry.
